How long have you been/were you employed with CCFI?

I worked for CCFI as the Executive Director for just under six years.

Why were you moved to join CCFI as an employee?

I was moved to join CCFI because of its stellar reputation in the community and its holistic approach to strengthening the lives of children and their families.  I was drawn to CCFI because their work was grounded in research and evidence-based practice and because they were steadfast in their commitment to improve the lives of children in our community.

What do you/did you enjoy most about your work?

I enjoyed the people the most.  I was motivated every day by the families and children we served who were overcoming a range of challenges in their lives.  I remember loving to watch children walk by my office window on their way to the Boys & Girls Club, knowing that they were able to access this safe, enriching place that the people of our community had made available for them.  I was eager to do my job well for the amazing colleagues I worked with at CCFI who gave so much of themselves to the mission every day.  I was inspired by CCFI’s donors and volunteers who freely gave their time, treasure and talent to advance the mission of the organization.

What do you feel is the biggest impact CCFI has made on the community?

I think there are many impacts CCFI has had on the community over its 50 years, so I don’t think I can choose just one! For me, because it happened when I was there, I think the conversion of the Neighborhood Centers programs into the Boys & Girls Club of Norman was a transformational step for CCFI, the children and families we served, and for our community.  I’m very proud of what CCFI has done to make sure the Club is thriving in all its efforts to serve the children of our community.  Another critical development was the expansion of the children’s therapeutic services and the organization’s ability to sustain those services in our community.  I’m very proud of what that team has accomplished to bring about greater healing and hope for families in our community.

What would you like to say to encourage others to get involved with CCFI, whether by donating or volunteering?

The time I spent working at CCFI were some of the most fulfilling years of my career.  When you are a part of this organization’s mission, you know you are a part of something incredibly special and impactful.  Every day I knew we were a critical part of helping children and families heal at the same time we were providing the kind of enrichment necessary for children in our community to realize their full potential.  There was no better feeling in the world than being a part of CCFI’s mission – everyone should do it!
