Youth Development Professional (Summer Program)

Temporary/Part-Time/Multiple Positions Open  

Boys & Girls Club of Norman at Center for Children and Families, Inc. (CCFI) is seeking multiple Youth Development Professionals for the 2024 Summer Program. This position provides youth development services to Club participants at Boys & Girls Club of Norman.  This position involves researching, coordinating, planning, preparing and facilitating activities for Club members as assigned and reports to the Boys & Girls Club of Norman Program Director.  This position must be available to work up to 40 hours per week for 8 weeks in June and July. Shifts will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

CCFI is one of Cleveland County’s oldest and most successful independent, private nonprofit agencies. Located in the heart of Norman, CCFI offers a wide range of strengths-based services to vulnerable children, youth and families. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate planning, preparation and facilitate activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, and presentation of a social and emotional learning and other curricula as assigned

  • Provide support to Club members and members’ families using strengths based approach

  • Attend all required program staffing and other meetings, workshops and trainings

  • Complete Behavior Reports as needed

  • Use behavior management skills, structure, and positive leadership to act as a caring adult role model for youth

  • Provide intensive supervision on field trips outside of Boys & Girls Club

  • Follow all CCFI policies, procedures and safety guidelines

  • Work as a team with other staff, and volunteers

  • Participate in processing and clean up after services

  • Perform other duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience

  • Additional education, youth development and leadership experience is strongly preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must pass criminal history and other background checks

Center for Children and Families, Inc. (CCFI), based in Norman, Oklahoma, seeks committed and dedicated community members to join our Board of Directors. CCFI is one of Cleveland County’s oldest and most successful independent, private non-profit agencies, offering a wide range of therapeutic and social services to vulnerable children, youth and families, including the Boys & Girls Club of Norman. CCFI exists to heal children, empower youth and strengthen families because every child deserves to grow up safe, nurtured and loved.

 SUMMARY OF KEY BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES

The Board of Directors is the governing body for CCFI. Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Setting the mission and purpose of the organization and advocating on behalf of CCFI

  • Support and evaluate the chief executive officer along with maintaining a competent board

  • Ensure effective planning, including monitoring and strengthening programs and services

  • Ensure adequate resources, protect assets and provide financial oversight

  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity

  • Enhance the organization’s public standing

 TIME COMMITMENT

  • Attend and actively participate in at least 75% of board meetings

  • Nine monthly board meetings – 1 ½ hours: 4th Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m., excluding July, December and January

  • Committee work – 1-2 hrs. per month, or as decided by the committee

  • Annual planning retreat – 1 day, usually a Friday in January

  • Attendance at three community events on behalf of CCFI, including but not limited to: business before or after hours, art walk, holiday meal, etc.

  • Participate in orientation for new board members

 OTHER EXPECTATIONS

  • Annual personal financial gift to organization (100% board giving is expected)

  • Host table at annual Hands & Hearts Luncheon. Sell tickets to annual Night at the Club event.

  • Assist with other fundraising needs including soliciting gifts, stewarding donors, making calls, gathering in-kind donations, and signing letters.

  • Host at least one agency tour with a minimum of three guests

  • Identify and assist in cultivation of potential donors

  • Honor confidentiality including client data, personnel, donor, financial and legal information

  • Immediately disclose any conflicts or potential conflicts of interest

  • Actively promote CCFI and encourage and support its staff

Work Study

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a need-based program that allows eligible students to earn money by working part-time while in school. Students are offered FWS based on their unmet need as determined by their annual FAFSA. To learn more about FWS qualifications, click HERE.

FWS Boys & Girls Club of Norman Youth Development Professional

  • Position available Aug 1, 2023 to May 17, 2024

  • Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (flexible around students class schedule)

  • $12.00/hr based on experience


Student Learning Opportunities

We offer a variety of different student learning opportunities for undergraduates and graduate-level students seeking training to gain professional experience or fulfill a degree requirement.

We do not have any openings for students until April 2024. Please note we do NOT offer short term, 16-week professional placement opportunities. Fingerprints and background checks are required at the cost of the student. COVID vaccination records are also required.
