More About the TAP Program

The Teenage Parenting program provides the following services for teen parents and children:

School Support Groups

Weekly peer-support groups meet at Norman and Moore high schools and alternative schools. Teens can suggest and discuss topics with the opportunity to grow through exploring different issues.

Parent Education Group Series

This “Building Blocks” class is for teen parents who have been court ordered to attend parenting education. Teens may be involved in child welfare, in a juvenile case, or trying to get visitation or custody of their children. Groups provide teens with support, new skills, and needed resources so they can meet their court requirements. Topics of discussion include pregnancy, child development, safety, nutrition, discipline, home care, healthy relationships, community resources, managing finances, and other topics.

  • One class series:  1 evening per week for 11-12 weeks.

  • Teen parents attend at least two sets of class series, and then will be evaluated to see if their situation requires further group work.

  • Children’s play groups are available for the parents who attend this group.

Peer Support Group for Siblings of Teen Parents

CCFI began a pilot project with the female siblings of teen parents who are between the ages of 11 and 17 years old. Siblings of teen parents are twice as likely to become teen parents themselves. This program will work with a small group to explore issues about future goals, body image, relationships with friends and families, and appropriate dating ideas.
