Emergency Respite Care (Extended Families)

Extended Families is specifically designed to provide short-term emergency foster care for children 0-18 years old. This service is for families who are in crisis and do not have a safe place for their children to stay. Some examples of children who qualify for this service are those who might have a parent in the hospital or jail, whose family is having extreme financial problems, or whose family is homeless. Most often the children come from single-parent homes, and their parent is in desperate need of respite care. Children are placed with Extended Families volunteers, and the average stay is 2-7 days.
