About Trauma Services
In 2007, CCFI received specialized training in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, developed by Dr. Bruce Perry and associates of the ChildTrauma Academy. By the end of 2007, CCFI will have completed Phase I and II of the NMT Certification process. NMT has greatly informed the professional understanding of how best to assess, intervene, and collaborate to support the recovery and growth of children who have suffered trauma associated with abuse and neglect by caregivers.

NMT is a developmentally-informed, biologically-respectful approach to working with at-risk children. This clinical approach helps professionals determine the strengths and vulnerabilities of a given child and create individualized intervention, enrichment, and educational plans for children. Simply, the goal is to find the appropriate set of therapeutic activities that match a child's current need in various domains of functioning, including social, emotional, cognitive, and physical functioning.

We have successfully worked with children who have been adopted, children in foster care, and children in the care of grandparents or other relatives. Our professionals identify children who can best use this specialized resource, and whose adult caregiver can work as partners with us to address the children's needs toward more comprehensive and lasting healing from the traumas they have experienced.
