Children's Groups & Services

"K.I.D.D.S" Children's Support Group
Kids often need the same support and education as parents in adjusting to divorce. In the K.I.D.D.S. (Kids in Different Divorce Situations) series, children participate in craft activities and discussions designed to reduce their trauma and teach coping skills. Groups are provided year-round when requested by parents. Two groups are offered for children of different ages. Parents do not have to be involved in other DVA services for children to be eligible for the K.I.D.D.S group.

The next group will be starting in January 2008

Assessment
If services other than educational groups are required by the courts or requested by parents, an intake session will be conducted individually with the parties involved to give them an opportunity to develop a relationship with the DVA staff and to express their concerns regarding the current family situation. DVA will assist the parent in developing a plan that helps to address the needs of their children.
