Mary Francis
Mary strongly believes that, “nothing says ‘love,’ like giving your time.” Her first experiences with CCFI came during her church hosting benefit drives for the agency, as she became more familiar with the mission of the agency, Mary was compelled to become a CCFI volunteer because she believed it was here that she could make the biggest difference.
.
Upon hearing that CCFI wanted to initiate a recycling program she knew just how she could help. As an advocate of sustainability, Mary has been coming to the Center for over two years to help minimize waste through our recycling efforts. She enthusiastically collects cardboard, glass, plastic, paper, and chipboard from CCFI’s recycling bin and hauls it in her hybrid to Norman’s recycling facilities each week.
.
Over the years, Mary’s work has brought her in touch with the staff and other volunteers whose dedication has made the mission of the Center for Children and Families especially close to her heart. Mary shares her thoughts on what volunteering means to her:
.
“There are some amazing things that happen when you volunteer. You learn about yourself, make new friends, and enjoy a renewed passion in life that gives you more purpose and meaning. Nothing says joy like feeling helpful and needed. I volunteer because I believe in building a sense of community and at CCFI they believe the same. I have developed a greater awareness of how fortunate Norman is to have such a wide array of services for those in need of support, especially children. I volunteer here because of the wonderful compassionate services CCFI provides and I want to be a part of that attitude. Every person I have met at the Center has been cheerful and friendly. From April who greets you at the front desk, to Katie who never fails to smile and say “Hi.” I’ve even come in one day when the agency was supposed to be closed and was greeted by a wonderful staff member working over time. This speaks to the level of dedication, commitment and camaraderie the staff demonstrates. and Helping them recycle is my way of repaying them!”
.
.The Center for Children and Families, Inc. is grateful to have Mary as a member of our team and our community.
Thank You Mary!
