Current Volunteer Needs

 
Direct Service:
 

1. Neighborhood Centers

Once a week for 1 semester (4-6 month committment)

 

- Need 5-6 or more volunteers for EACH of the following nights:

  • Monday 5:45-8:00  p.m.
  • Tuesday 5:45-8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday 5:45-8:00 p.m.
     

- One hour training and screening with Neighborhood Centers’
  director required before beginning
 

- Volunteers can bring activities of their own to play with kids

 

 

2. Caregiver Group

Second Tuesday of every month
 

- Volunteer with children during parent group meetings

Indirect Service:   

     

1. Toy Cleaning

Weekly on Thursday mornings or Friday afternoons
 

- Need volunteers to come for 1 hour each week to disinfect toys
  in each of our 3 playrooms
  

- Two people per room each week
 

- Times available for cleaning are:

  • Thursday 8:30-12:00 p.m.
  • Friday after 1 p.m.
  • (Sundays if necessary)

 
 

2. Diaper closet organization

One Friday a month (before 10:30 a.m. or after Noon)
 

- Need a small group of volunteers to organize our diaper closet
  donations once a month

 

 

3. Parents Assistance group dinners

Tuesday nights (not always every Tuesday)\

 

- Need volunteers to bag sack dinners (sandwiches, crackers and fruit)
  on Tuesday for evening group therapy meeting

 

 

4. Care Giver Group dinners

Second Monday of every month
 

- Need volunteers to bag sack dinners (sandwiches, crackers and fruit)
  for roughly 25 kids

One time events:

 

1. Family Fun Night: March 25th
 

- Need volunteers to cook dinners for 75 people
 

- Need 5 volunteers to serve food

 

 

2.”I Love My Neighborhood” Block Party: April 29th
 

- Volunteers needed from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
 

- 30-40 volunteers needed for event
 

- A small group of volunteers (3 or 4) needed to pick up and set up
  road block signs (and tear down) before and after event.(We need
  someone with a pickup truck).
 

- Need volunteers to hand out flyers week before event
 

- Need volunteers to help acquire prizes

 

 

3. Norman Music Festival: April 25th
 

- Need volunteers for the following activity tables:

  • Arts & Crafts table
  • Makeup Table
  • Rocker Hair Table

 

- Volunteers will also be needed for set up and tear down.
  Shifts are as follows:

  • 10:00am-12:00 p.m.
  • 12:00pm-2:00 p.m.
  • 2:00pm-4:00 p.m.
  • 4:00pm-6:00 p.m.
  • 6:00-8:00 p.m. (Tear down; stage act ends at 7:00pm)
