What brought you to volunteer at CCFI?
I wanted to get involved in the community and someone suggested CCFI. I’m a big kid, I like to play with kids, and I had time I could provide - so it seemed like a good idea. JACKPOT!

.
What do you do as a volunteer?
I play with the kids on Tuesday nights while their parents are in parenting classes.

.
What has your experience been like?
Incredible! And by incredible, I mean awesome! It has been a lot of fun and rewarding to know that I can make group nights on Tuesday an enjoyable and memorable experience for the kids. Knowing some of the hardships they face, it’s good to know we can provide a safe haven and teach them skills that help them every day.
.
.
Why do you continue to volunteer?
Basically, I do it for the money! No, actually, it’s hard not to, knowing how much we are able to improve the kid’s lives and how much they benefit from playing with us. Plus volunteers are always needed. The more one-on-one interaction the kids have with a volunteer, the better.
.
.
What was a favorite volunteering moment?
Having met and played with a kid only once and the next week that kid gives me a big hug - like we were best friends. Or seeing a kid I played with for a few weeks suddenly smile for the first time. That’s pretty neat.
